What is Timolol Ophthalmic Solution?
Like humans, cats and dogs can develop glaucoma, a disease of the eye. The disease increases pressure in the eye and can cause pain and even blindness. Timolol is an ophthalmic solution for dogs and cats that helps prevent disease in one eye if the other eye is affected by glaucoma. It requires prescription from your veterinarian.
Glaucoma can present in one eye but not the other. If that’s the case for your pet, it’s important to help maintain the health of the unaffected eye so your vet may prescribe Timolol. This safe, effective solution is a beta-blocker that can ease pressure in the eye by reducing the amount of fluid in the eyeball and also blocking the part of the eye that produces certain fluids.

Cautions:
Tell your veterinarian if your pet is using other eye drops or eye medications, before using Timolol Ophthalmic. Contact your veterinarian immediately, if your pet has swelling of the face or itching, or appears to have difficulty breathing. Do not touch the dropper opening to any surface including eyes or hands as it is sterile and if becomes contaminated, it could cause an infection in the eye. Do not use this medication if your pet has a viral or fungal infection of the eye. It is used for bacterial infections only. Tell your veterinarian if your pet is pregnant or lactating.

What happens if I miss giving a dose:
Apply the missed dose as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for the next dose, disregard the missed dose and give only the next scheduled dose.
Storage:
Store this medication at room temperature away from moisture and heat and keep the bottle properly capped
Directions:
Use Timolol Ophthalmic as directed by your veterinarian. Follow the instructions on the prescription label. Wash your hands prior to using the eye drops and shake the bottle gently to make sure the medication is properly mixed.
